This is my most useful program for Windows. I use windows primary to run this program and access to all power of UNIX systems.

I have been using PuTTY now in a number of different personal and professional capacities for the last few years. It's extremely efficient, no install required, very configurable - it has let me do everything that I need to do and more. I have been on teams that use competing programs such as Cygwin and commercial products, but feel that PuTTY beats them on a performance level, not counting the price. Very happy with the application...

I have been using Putty for the past 4 years and till date havent come across another terminal emulator which is more light weight, more standards compliant or easy to us than Putty.

There has been some common gripes about tabbed browsing and auto login that is missing in the original version. But there are many more forks of the same client which seem to have addressed most of the mentioned issues (if they are really issues!).

Many in my team prefer VanDyke's SecureCRT, but Putty still remains the best and my personal favourite.
