Any OS application out there as an alternative to MS Active Sync?

I finally coughed up the dough and bought an iMate for $600 thinking it will help improve my productivity! Instead Microsoft has, once again, made my life a living hell - the active sync application just keeps hanging and giving me a "Server is busy" error each time I try and sync. The sync success rate has been ~4% - 96% of my Sync efforts have resulted in the same error. The one thing MS software has is unparalleled consistency - No matter how many times I try and reboot the phone and the laptop - the error remains the same!!! I've looked at various MS forums and this is a "known" issue that is "Currently being worked on". So any OSS apps out there that takes me away from the MS-Hell would be much appreciated.

    Naman, you might want to look into Funambol's implementation of SyncML, the OSS alternative to Activesync. Not sure if it will be replaceable as easily, but you might want to look into it. Check it out at http://www.funambol.com/opensource/downloads.html

    Hey naman sell your imate on ebay and use the proceeds to buy an iphone. Move away from the "sinking" MS experience and get the true smart-phone experience. You could also invest a Blackberry but that has its own set of costs associated with it...
