Backup tool for macs

By Ketan Gupta - Aug. 18, 2007

Hi. I am looking for a good Mac backup tool. Ideally, the tool should have a GUI and be easy to schedule. If my data can be kept in sync, that will be awesome. I wouldn't mind an online service, though .Mac is painfully expensive. I need to make sure I can periodically keep my data backed up and in sync!

I use iBackup. It is free for personal, non-commercial use. Check it out at http://www.grapefruit.ch/iBackup It has some limitations (it has to be running for it to do scheduled backup), but the price is right, and it works well! It does not do incremental backups either, but it can detect if something has changed, and back that up. On the whole, I've been happy.

I use SuperDuper. It isn't free but it is a fantastic tool. I highly recommend it and figure an effective backup system is so worth a few bucks. http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
