Checksum Error In Yum

By Dananjaya Ramanayake - Apr. 28, 2009

Does anybody get this error while running yum as normal user?
I get this error when runnig from normal user and not from super-user
//var/cache/yum/updates/primary.sqlite.bz2 does not match checksum
Is this some db error? any pointers or suggestions?

    yum is probably not downloading the bzip file completely. You can try again or point to a different mirror. What exactly are you trying to do? Does this work as root but not as a regular user? Perhaps yum was not configured properly and is looking for the checksum in a restricted area?

    If it works as root, and not as a system user, you most likely have a permissions problem.

    Else, you have a yum issue.

    Actually this happened when I tried to update firefox through yum.

    and yes this works as root user. when I try to do same thing ( yum install firefox) as normal user I get that error. I don't think its a configuration error in yum. It worked perfectly both as normal and super user,but suddenly I got this error
