By Jimmy Hopkin - Aug. 07, 2007

Hello. I am looking for an opensource framework similar to that of Ruby On Rails, but for PHP. What recommendations do you have?

Take a look at cakephp. They have a good MVC framework that makes it very easy to develop PHP-based MVC apps similar to the way Ruby on Rails works. (http://www.cakephp.org)

See the symfony project (www.symfony-project.com). It has Ajax and i18n support and has a ton of productive features like cache management.

phpmvc is another one. It doesn't seem to be as advanced as Cake, but might be worth a look.

If you wanna work easily, you can use codeIgniter, CakePHP is also a good framework. And you can also try Zend framework as you know it is a product of PHP company.

You can use Akelos PHP Framework, which is a good MVC implementation for PHP and Ruby on Rails.

We can develop multilingual applications for localized markets.

I would checkout codeigniter. http://codeigniter.com/tutorials/ it's very much like RoR (MVC) style. I use it for projects that rails is just not an option.
