Has anyone used seashore?

By Darrius Pan - Mar. 13, 2008

Seashore is an image editor for the mac os. I currently use Gimp and am very happy with the feature set - although I have printing related issues from time to time which isn't really a big deal.

Was hoping to get some feedback on seashore to see if it makes sense to take this for a test drive.

Yep, I use Seashore and absolutely love it. It may not be up to pro standards but I only need for basic image editing -- for that, it rocks!

Thanks Lisa! I think I will try this out. I was also looking at Inkscape and that seems to have some cool features in there for image editing.

That's the beauty & problem with OSS - so many cool apps, all free - I'm like a kid in a candy store!

You might also want to check out imagemagick. That works well when you want to do things like crop images and manipulate them, especially programmatically, as opposed to things you can do with GIMP.

Not sure how that stacks up with Seashore.

@dogone, I would recommend downloading Inkscape. Its a powerful tool that will probably give you everything seashore does and a lot more.

Seashore is horrible. It lacks key features. Gimp is much better. I suffered with Seashore for many months and finally just got X11.

Great tool for screen captures and does a lot of what you see in SnagIt for the Mac (which IMO is still the best screen capture tool out there).
