How do i open docx files or convert them to .doc or rtf?

I have been sent a docx file and want to ideally have a web service or tool that converts to rtf or .doc

    In order to convert .docx documents to .doc format, just download the free Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=941B3470-3AE9-4...

    The .docx files are essentially a bunch of zipped XML documents and you can even rename the extension from .docx to .zip and extract the contents using Winzip.

    You can try Zoho. I think they've added support for .docx formats
