How to get legitimate email sender status with Hotmail and Yahoo?

I am operating a small website where users subscribe to email updates on published items they are interested. From time to time users with Hotmail and Yahoo mail seems to get there email notices delivered to the 'Junk' or 'Bulk' mail folders. I have seen many piecemeal suggestions but wanted to see if some one can provide how a small business can setup the email system. Thank you in advance.

    There are several things you need to check: 1) Yahoo - they use domain keys. Be sure to set those up. 2) Hotmail - they use sender ID/spf2. You will need to configure your dns entries to use this. 3) Check the IP address you have to make sure it has not been blacklisted. Good luck!
