Is there an open source alternative to Flash?

Is there an open source alternative for adobe flash. Just like the GIMP for Photoshop, Inkscape for illustrator, Blender for 3dmax.

    If you want to MAKE flash files instead of using Macromedia tools, you can use Open Laszlo. If you need to have an alternate viewing platform, check out gnash.

    I think you're looking for Gnash - its a free player, browser plugin for Adobe flash files. Its developed from the GPLFlash Project. Its beautiful... ;)
