Looking for hosting services for specific OSS apps.

By Saleem Tuteli - Feb. 27, 2008

I'm looking for hosting services that pre-packaged & support the following apps:

- Mediawiki
- Drupal
- Joomla
- Alfresco
- Mambo

We're looking at providing our clients with a complete pre-packaged CMS solution (development + consulting + hosting) and am looking for the best possible alternatives out there...

Ideally, it would makes our lives much simpler if there is a single service provider that can provision servers with the above mentioned apps

Try Mediatemple (www.mediatemple.com) - they've been advertising pretty aggressively and seem to have received some great press and feedback. Not sure if they'll support all the above mentioned apps though...

I use http://www.dreamhost.com and a number of the applications you mention are provided via a 1-click installation process. I am amazed by the cost/value ratio provided by Dreamhost. Worth checking out.

    Bluehost includes all but Alfresco.

A word of warning; nowhere and I mean nowhere will you find adequate Alfresco hosting (I've deployed Alfresco dozens of times - it just isn't built for SaaS). Alfresco did have a hosting deal with Hoike but they've since been integrated into a different firm and gone inactive.

If you want integrated KMS I would in no uncertain terms recommend KnowledgeTree instead.

Milwaukee Micro provides hosting for Alfresco Enterprise and we do a lot of side-by-side hosting of open source LAMP apps like Drupal and Joomla.

You may want to try GoDaddy.com. Although I live in Canada, I have my web site (messier.,ca) hosted there, and I find they give me a good control over everything I need. You can also choose whether your site is hosted on Linux or Windows. I personnally recomend Linux.
