Looking to take a snapshot of a web page

By Scott Sanchez - May. 03, 2008

Hello! I need to take a few sceenshots of documentation web pages for a presentation. On windows, I can take a screenshot using the print screen option (prntscrn), but that only takes a snapshot of the entire screen. I know there are tools out there. Options?

TIA.

For beginners you can use Alt+PrntScrn to get a snapshot of the active window or Ctrl+PrntScrn for a snapshot of your entire desktop. You can paste (Ctrl+V) this in MS Paint and edit and mock it up as you please.

See http://ostatic.com/158572-questions/looking-for-an-open-source-screen-ca... for a similar discussion - Snagit is what you need. There are some other open source/free tools listed in the above discussion as well.

    Thank you!

Yes, PrntScrn with options is good, but I wanted to get the full page, and then found SnagIt! Even better, it really lets me take a snapshot of the entire screen!

Well though not an open source option but Snippy till date has been the best, never had to look for another. Its strange not many people know about it, but the reason could be the fact that it is very small, but does the job so perfectly. I am sure you would find using Snippy a breeze!...

Its a single exe, and does not need to be installed. Just run and snip.

Just to mention Snippy can snap a freehand screen portion or just a quadrilateral (square or rectangle) section of the screen.

Firefox with snapshot plug-in does it smoothly.

You can use SnagIt, which is a great tool, but costs money. There should be free tools to do it on the net. Those are free under Linux, that's for sure !!!!!!
