Mac Mail showing incorrect unread message count in Dock

By Nigel Smith - Jan. 04, 2009

Hello. I noticed that my mac (os x 10.5) is showing an incorrect count for the number of unread messages (it is showing 22). I have gone through all unread messages in all my mailboxes, emptied trash and rebuilt the mailbox, but the count is still showing up. According to my checks, there should be zero, but the count is still 22. I have quit, restarted and rebuilt, to no avail. Any ideas?

Thank you!

@anon - you are joking, right? Entourage SUCKS!

Nigel, are you using IMAP accounts or POP accounts? Sometimes this is caused by unread messages in other folders of your IMAP account.

Under your inbox, you will see all your IMAP folders for each account, and you can check in there. Be sure to check the spam folders too - this can prove to be the culprit.
