If you use OOP, ODBMS definitely better, but migration to it of dev community is a gradual process given by many success years RDBMS working. For more details please see http://www.25hoursaday.com/WhyArentYouUsingAnOODBMS.html.

    Take care.

If all dependeps on your need.

    My findings are

OOAD comes after concept of OOP the vision to facilitate developer to think in terms of Objects instead of entities.

I think it is better to use RDBMS with ORM technique because RDBMS is mature then ODBMS. you can get the features of OOPS and reliability of RDBMS.

I think pure ODBMS technologies are not mature enough to compete in the market with their relational counterparts, furthermore, in the real world Relational DBMS rule the market, and i believe it will be like this for a long time... Vendors like ORACLE and IBM have made sure most companies have invested enough money and resources on RDBMS technologies for years to come.
