Open Source Google Desktop Search?

I'm beginning to get weary of Google controlling ALL my personal data. Today I can't live without Google services and they know EVERYTHING about me which is starting to sound scary.

So, to reduce my reliance on Google, I'm slowly beginning to migrate some of activity to other apps and services (e.g. Bloglines instead of iGoogle) and am looking to find an open source replacement for desktop search. Any suggestions?

    I would like to have Beagle on Windows but have still not found one.


    Till then try Copernic, it does not store your data anywhere else other than your computer, there is no option to do a sync with a remote server, if you are very security conscious.

    Lookout has been merged with Miscrosoft Desktop Search or rather shelved. That was one wonderful simple software which was a great addon for Outlook. Though you might find it somewhere on the web.
