    I have tried WikiCalc but it is not close to Google spreadsheet or Zoho spreadsheet or EditGrid. I would like something like these. I also know about the Twiki spreadsheet plugin but that again is not a dedicated web spreadsheet.

    Try Calc (www.openoffice.org) - You'll never miss Excel and can export your spreadsheets into xls format to share with the others who still have to endure the MS Office suite.

    I was looking for a "web based spreadsheet" and not the offline version of the same, Audacity. Thanks

    @osafw - sorry that's what I get for not paying attention. Check out Simple Spreadsheet -

    http://www.simple-groupware.de/cms/Spreadsheet/Home

    From the site: Simple Spreadsheet is a web-based spreadsheet program written in Javascript, HTML, CSS and PHP. It features formulas, charts, numeric formats, keyboard navigation, etc. Javascript is used for the default data format and for the macros and formulas. Simple Groupware is Free Software, released under the GNU GPLv2 License.

    Hope that helps...

    Thanks Audacity. I had read about Simple Spreadsheet. But it does not yet have a feature of saving the spreadsheet on the server. It still is a copy paste and local save.

    Read the section below:

    ===========================

    Loading / saving documents:

    In Simple Spreadsheet, spreadsheets are stored and loaded by using copy-paste. That means that the documents are not stored on the server.

    Isn't open office available in a hosted environment on ulteo? That might be good.
