Just got a new PC but iTunes threatens to replace my iPod with the iTunes library. Any ideas?

Try Senuti or iPodRip for the Mac and check out PodPlus for Windows
PC users can get this done without having to download any software as well. Here's step-by-step instructions on how you can do this in a matter of minutes http://www.cnet.com/4520-7899_1-6477981-1.html

Senuti is terrible. I just tried it a couple of weeks ago and it gave me all kinds of errors and when it actually started working it was tooooooo slow. Stay away from this and stick to ipodrip (Mac users that is)

I used this iPod transfer program called Tansee iPod Transfer http://ipod-tool.com/ipod-software/ipod-to-pc-transfer.html
It can help you get all music/videos off iPod and put onto computer and iTunes in simplest steps. Detailed guide http://ipod-tool.com/ipod-guide/how-to-transfer-songs-from-ipod-to-compu...

It is not free, but you can also get AudioHijack for the Mac. That will transfer your songs to mp3s on your hard drive. At worst case, you can burn a CD with your songs and then re-import them. Of course, this is only necessary for the music you got from the iTunes store.
