shopify vs magento for a beginner ecommerce store?

Looking for basic core functionality - list, filter, multiple card support, international support, multi-language support and also looking for all-in-one hosting packages that can be setup by the not-so-tech-savvy user. TIA for your help!

Any alternate suggestions are also welcome :)

    I would go with osCommerce (http://www.oscommerce.com) since it is the most widely used open source e-commerce solution and directly integrates with several payment gateways including, but not limited to, authorize.net, paynova, paypal, ipayment, etc.


    Payment gateways in my experience pose the biggest headache for e-commerce applications and osCommerce does a great job of addressing that.
