Tools for syncing Google Calendar with iCal on the mac

By Mo Sohn - Apr. 21, 2008

Thanks for your responses on my previous question about doing this with Outlook. I've now finally put an end to my misery and bought myself a macbook! iCal is great but I can't seem to figure out a way to sync my Google calendar with iCal.

I have seen Spanning Sync, but was hoping for a "free" solution :)

Google has developed it for outlook but unfortunately us mac users will have to wait :(

Try gsync (http://www.macness.com/blog/) - it is $20 but gets the trick done. Spanning Sync is great but I agree that the $65 price tag isn't justified.

Thanks @cmsboy! Seems like gsync is the way to go although I've read some negative reviews about it. Hopefully they have a trial version that I can test...

Found this on lifehacker - http://lifehacker.com/software/google-calendar/how-to-sync-google-calend...

The process looks quite simple: Just copy the iCal URL from Google Calendar's management screen into iCal's "subscribe to" window. iCal creates a new calendar which can be automatically or manually updated, depending on your preference. Admittedly, it's a one-way synchronization, but it still seems like a fine method for pulling your Google Calendar appointments into iCal.
