Is there any free xml editor such as xml spy? XML SPY is no longer provides free version.

Try XML Cooktop - I've not used it but have read good things about it.

Try Peter's XML Editor. Again as above its been a very long time since I have used it but it worked well for me.

You could also try the open source Treebeard XML/XSLT transform editor, I never had to look for another.

If all you want is editing XML, why not use the good old trusted Vim with syntax highlighting?
