Sometimes the best way to get an answer these days is to just answer your own questions. That way you cut out the middle-man.

Neither does getting points for "I agree with anonymous", or a left recursion of this post. Guess that is why, the award page says that winners' points will be examined.

I guess it depends...
How many times have you had difficulty answering your own question only to answer it yourself a few days later?
Say that you want the answer today, but no one responds to your question... so you continue to research it, then all of a sudden you find the answer. The right thing to do is post the answer, regardless if you asked the question or not.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to filter out those that are on the level and those that are just looking to earn easy points.
