Dimdim Launches a Webinar Platform, Lets Producers Make Money

Dimdim, an open source web conferencing provider that we've covered many times, launched what it is billing as an easy webinar service today. Dimdim has long competed closely with proprietary web conferencing services such as WebEx, and its new service will provide personalized webinar platforms for webinars delivered to up to 1,000 people. In conjunction with the new service, Dimdim has struck a partnership with Eventbrite, which does event management and ticketing, so that anyone delivering webinars can find avenues to make money with them.

Yugma's Free Web Meeting App Upgraded, Now Does Linux

Many open source users of free online meeting applications reach for Dimdim when they want to present to and collaborate with others on the web, and Dimdim is a great choice.? It's available in a free, open source version and offers a lot of features not found in the freeware conferencing apps, including the ability to invite up to 20 people to a meeting, and free recording of online meetings. Now, one of Dimdim's biggest freeware competitors, Yugma, has just released a beta version for Linux of its well-liked application.


Dimdim Launches Synched Web Sharing Features in its Conferencing App

We've written before about Dimdim, an outstanding open source web conferencing application which may be of special interest right now to businesses looking to save on travel for meetings and the like. Today, Dimdim has announced an upgrade that offers synchronized co-browsing, better scalability and enhanced performance. Version 4.5 now lets you start a Dimdim room and send anyone the room's URL, after which users on the other end can see what you see as you go to various web addresses, view data and videos, and share online data. This is another good move that differentiates Dimdim from a very crowded field of conferencing applications.
