Open source network and systems management software vendor GroundWork released a new version of its flagship product GroundWork Monitor 6.0 today with a passel of new features and a newly-designed interface. Based on the idea that the tree-style viewing options typically found in today's montoriting software is longer the best choice for applications running in the cloud, GroundWork has developed what it's calling a Seurat View to help users see at a glance where tiny pieces of data fit into the larger picture.

A couple of weeks ago, the company rolled out a whole slew of updates in GroundWork Monitor 5.3, and today its announcing new company officers at the helm and a fresh round of funding from investors.

Now the official update has been released and it contains a number of enhancements, including an increase in the number of devices that can be managed by a single subscription -- all without an addtional price increase.

Open source software vendor GroundWork is looking for some help putting the newest version of its flagship IT monitoring application through its paces in anticipation of its release early next year. A trial edition of GroundWork Monitor Community Edition 5.3 is available for community members who want to get an early look, and David Dennis, senior director of product marketing, says the company would love to get some feedback.
