RIP Democracy, Hello Miro

It's just a name change, but it should go a long way toward eliminating confusion from those who thought a video player called Democracy had anything to do with government. Instead, it was only meant to be a player of the people, for the peopleοΎ… well, nevermind. It's gonna be called Miro from here on in, and soon there will be new icon, logo, etc., all at this address. Though Jackson, on the ground in Austin, tells us that they were still handing out 'Democracy' t-shirts...

Zudeo to Re-launch with New Name

Azureus beat Bram Cohen's Bittorrent venture to the punch when they soft-launched a Torrent-powered content platform in December. Zudeo.com features film trailers next to semi-professional HD content and has since seen 1 million visitors. All these folks will soon have to learn a new moniker, because Azureus is about to pull a Venice Project on us.

How To: Create Your Own 'Channel'

Looking ahead to the future, I think that one of the problems that will be solved is how to 'program' web video content. Not in the technical sense, but in the traditional television sense. I still think that one of the things that OldTeeVee is good at that NewTeeVee can learn from is 'findability' or 'discoverability,' as well as that kick-back-and-relax passivity that's so comfortably mindless.
