Altiscale Cloud Service Simplifies Hadoop for Businesses
It's no secret that many organizations are experiencing difficulties in implementing Hadoop, including hardship in finding skilled Hadoop professionals. Altiscale, a company focused on simplifying Hadoop deployment and use, is attacking these problems with the release of Altiscale Insight Cloud, a cloud service targeted to make Hadoop more easily accessible to business users.
One of the approaches to demystifying Hadoop that Altiscale takes is to leverage familiar front-end technology, such as Microsoft Excel. "The Altiscale Insight Cloud supplies the critical missing bridge between Big Data and the business user – a rapidly queried data lake that enables business analysts to get critical answers all by themselves, while using familiar business intelligence tools like Tableau and Excel," the company reports.
An announcement post adds:
"The Altiscale Insight Cloud powers interactive SQL queries, dynamic visualizations, real-time dashboards, and other reporting and analytics capabilities. As a high-performance, self-service analytics solution, the Altiscale Insight Cloud replaces more complex, expensive alternatives that require heavy IT involvement, allowing Big Data to be harnessed more broadly and quickly throughout the organization and improving the speed and size of business impact."
"For the typical enterprise, providing access to Big Data for business analysts is complex, slow, and expensive. It often involves significant IT time and resources, as well as the use of pricey proprietary solutions that are not necessarily fastest medium between Big Data and the data visualization applications. As a solution that simplifies the connection between Big Data and the end user, as well as bypasses the need for expensive, proprietary solutions, the Altiscale Insight Cloud makes it fast and easy for business analysts to benefit from the rich, detailed data held in the Hadoop data lake."
“We are excited about the Altiscale Insight Cloud, since it will accelerate and expand our ability to get insights from our data and share those insights across the company,” said Richard Au, Sr. Technical Director at GluPlay, a studio at Glu Mobile, a leading mobile gaming studio whose games include the fan-favorite DASH series of games like Diner Dash and Cooking Dash. “As a fast-growing organization with global customers, we want to ensure that our managers across the world have the ability to access and analyze the latest and greatest information. The Altiscale Insight Cloud will allow us to do this quickly and affordably, connecting to our existing Tableau implementation.”
“Our enterprise customers first wanted to have a powerful, affordable solution to solve their Big Data challenge, which we provided with the Altiscale Data Cloud,” said Raymie Stata, CEO and founder, Altiscale. “Today we are introducing the Altiscale Insight Cloud, which solves the challenge of bringing Big Data to a broader range of users, so that enterprises can quickly develop new offerings, better target customers, and respond to shifting market or operational conditions. It’s a faster and easier way to get from Big Data infrastructure to insights that drive real business value.”
