Debian 7 Progressing, Mageia 3 Delayed

by Ostatic Staff - Feb. 19, 2013

Debian 7.0 is progressing and testers were treated to Release Candidate 1 recently. On the other side of town Mageia has reported a change in the release schedule for upcoming version 3.

Debian Installer 7.0 Release Candidate 1

Debian Installer 7.0 Release Candidate 1 was announced on February 17. Since the last beta lot of improvements and fixes have been implemented. Among those is a respectable number of supported hardware additions such as several Ralink wifi devices and support for Lenovo 10/100 Ethernet USB dongle. Some other eye-catchers include "improve support for EFI installs," reverted a kernel workaround that prevent some driver installations, and several accessibility improvements. Debian 7.0 is expected when it's ready, but rumored to be in the Spring.

Mageia 3 Delayed until May

* Beta 3: 2013 Mar 5th
* Beta 4: 2013 Mar 28th
