iPhone Grabs Top Smartphone Share in U.S. in October

While Android has come on strong as an open source mobile OS and even caused Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to proclaim that it will become the dominant platform on smartphones, Apple’s iOS has pushed aside BlackBerry to become the top smartphone platform in the U.S. as of October, according to Nielsen Co. Nielsen reported that Apple earned 27.9 percent share of the smartphone market, while Android claimed 22.7 percent. That's a very healthy number for Android, but Apple's iPhone remains the horse to beat in smartphones. Check out GigaOM's further analysis.
