LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 2 Released

by Ostatic Staff - Apr. 22, 2011

Just one week since beta 1 hit the Internet, LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 2 was released today. These developmental releases fulfill the plans to release weekly betas until final. The original 3.4 release date has slipped a bit from the earlier May 2 estimate, but is on track for May 31.

The changelog of fixes since Beta 1 is short and features primarily obscure and low-incident bugs signaling that things seem on track for final release. The changelog lists updates such as:

* calc
+ append fake parameter in case of un-even parameter count
+ avoid importing unnamed styles from XLS
+ don't overwrite hidden cells in drag-fill operation
+ insert a missing token for an ocSep followed by an ocClose

* filters
+ fix crash in the referenced shape didn't contain texbody

* libs-gui
+ fix crash on launch

* writer
+ a more reliable way to detect w:titlePg
+ avoid first-page header/footer extending to all pages

* Downloads
* Full Changelog
* Full Announcement
* Installation instructions

Updating from 3.3 is thought to work fine, but versions from 3.3 Beta2 should be removed prior to installing any from the 3.4 branch.

3.4.1 is now expected around June 28.
