Metacloud Delivers Supported, Hosted OpenStack Cloud Platform
The OpenStack cloud computing platform continues to head in a lot of interesting directions. There are many IT departments interested in deploying it for its flexibility and customizability, but there are also those who simply want a well supported OpenStack platform that will let them take advantage of private cloud functionality.
Just this week, SUSE announced the availability of SUSE Cloud 3, the next version of its OpenStack distribution for building Infrastructure-as-a-Service private clouds. And, Metacloud, which has focused on deploying and operating OpenStack as a service for many companies, launched Metacloud Hosted Private Cloud, a turnkey hosted solution that delivers the company’s OpenStack-based cloud platform alongside full support plans.
Metacloud's platform offers hosted infrastructure with security, a multi-tenant cloud platform, dedicated hardware, redundant block storage, on-demand provisioning, and 24×7 cloud operations, with five hosting locations to choose from–including international sites. It was designed for the growing number of companies that are showing enthusiasm for dedicated private cloud solutions, but are not interested in either building or managing their own on-premises private cloud.
“Metacloud’s Hosted Private Cloud is a natural extension of our current on-premises offering. It leverages the same enhanced version of OpenStack that we’ve deployed for our on-prem clients, and it is supported by the same team of accomplished cloud engineers,” said Steve Curry, co-founder and President, Metacloud, in an announcement. “The difference is that Hosted Private Cloud allows you to access the versatility and power of OpenStack without having to own a single server–or maintain your own data center. Everything you need is included. Just pick a location, then grow when you need to. And here’s the best part: you get white glove service, SLAs with teeth, and better performance, delivered on hardware dedicated to you–at a significant discount compared to existing public cloud options.”
“This product is a no-brainer for companies seeking a hybrid solution that delivers a consistent experience both on-prem and off. It’s ideal for disaster recovery as well as for companies that have routine spikes in usage,” added Sean Lynch, co-founder and CEO, Metacloud. “Our existing on-prem private cloud clients have been asking for a complimentary hosted solution, and we’re happy to be able to provide that for them.”
