Red Hat has carved out a strong reputation for its profitable Linux-focused strategy and the top-notch support it provides for enterprise customers, but there is no question that the company is betting on future growth in the cloud computing space. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform is positioned to serve as the foundation for OpenStack-powered cloud deployments. Today Red Hat announced its new Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Infrastructure-as-a-Service and expanded training in support of its OpenStack technology.

"Our goal is to bring our enterprise experience to the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) market and provide an OpenStack platform that our customers can trust," Red Hat's announcement stated. "We are committed to providing services that help our customers use OpenStack to get their products to market faster."

Red Hat already built an industry-leading Linux certification program and this new OpenStack certification program is similarly designed. According to the announcement:

"Today, we complement and expand these offerings by introducing the Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Infrastructure-as-a-Service and expanding the Red Hat OpenStack Administration course to cover new capabilities in the latest release and to provide preparation for the Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Infrastructure-as-a-Service Exam (EX210)."

OpenStack is such a hot commodity right now that getting the new certification could be meaningful for those looking for good jobs in the cloud computing space. As we've reported, open source skills are highly valued in the current job market.
