A covenant's literal meaning is to agree. When two or more parties come together and
agree upon a formal set of rules or agreements they form a covenant. While a contract and
covenant are similarly treated in law covenants are more than a signed contract. Contracts are
made with a promise whereas a covenant is made with an oath. Contracts are bound to a person
by means of one's signature. Covenants are done under God's name and declaration of one's own
demise should one break it. When the covenant is made it is enforced by the holy and just God
by malison upon the party which broke it. One of the most common covenants is marriage. The
promise is not just between the bride and groom but also God. They promise to the Lord to be
faithful and true to each other while asking the Lord to be a great father. Jesus upon becoming
