Berkovsky There are many Latinos that I would like to spend a day with, but one especially stands out to me. That one person is ex-pitcher Mariano Rivera. Marino was born on November 26, 1969. He was born and raised in Panama City. He lived in a fishing village in Panama because his father was the captain of a fishing boat. The Rivera family was classified as a poor family. . When he was younger, in order to play baseball, they had to make milk cartons out of gloves and baseballs out of tape and fishing net. Also, he had to use tree branches as bats. Finally, when he was 12, he got his first baseball glove. Because his family was poor, Mariano had to drop out of high school at the age of 16 and go work for his father. After an accident happened to Marino's uncle, he decided to quit and become a mechanic. When he was 19, he decided to play for a local baseball team as their shortstop. A scout watched him play but didn't have a chance to make it into the MLB as a shortstop. A year later, a pitcher on his team had a bad game, and Marino was asked to replace him even though he never pitched before. He ended up pitching a good game a couple of weeks after launching for the first time he got invited...
