I value life and all forms of Gods creation; however, I also appreciate science and believe that there are times where the greater good prevails. I believe this under the connotation that no life is more important than another life, but multiple lives in a group carry a higher moral standard to me than just one singular life. This belief is what leads my decision in the red button scenario -I would press the button- because I think the more lives saved -the better- despite losing one.
When it comes to abortion, I am pro-life. I back my belief up in scripture where the Bible talks of God knitting us together in our mothers womb (Psalm 139:13-16). I believe that from the moment God decides to bring life into the world life is considered sacred and is entitled to basic human rights. My belief on abortion is also consistent with the Catholic Churchs encyclical Evangelium Vitae written by John Paul II.
