WEEK 1 DISCUSSION
Advantages and Disadvantages of Networks
In this assignment, you will distinguish between the advantages and disadvantages of using computing networks. You will also get familiarized with the terms associated with networks.
Provide a detailed description of situations in which the use of networks benefited you as well as situations where the use of networks was a disadvantage. Share at least one situation for each case.
In addition, research the following terminologies associated with networks and provide a detailed description, along with diagrams, for each. Explain the terms in your own words.
· Network models
· Network topologies (Hint: The term "network topology" here refers to how network components are arranged or laid out in a network.)
· NOS
Also, explain how they relate together
INTRODUCTION
Computer networks can be defined as a set of computers linked together to share diverse resources. In today’s world, those resources can be defined as information and other great material found on the internet. Networks are a fantastic concept that has brought about great things we can talk and communicate about. Sure, we did those things in the past but, with today’s technologies, we can communicate at great speed about things that took time in the past. Now, you might say, “What things can we talk about with great speed?” Well, anything! By anything, I mean anything we might have discussed in the past can now be discussed in today’s world. If we have this power now, what would have happened if we had this power, say, 77 years ago, at a beach in Waikiki at the Royal Hotel? Life may have been a lot more different than it is now. I only say that because we tend to pull out our cell phone, at a moment’s notice for anything unusual. The site of seeing 408 airplanes with A Royal Japanese Airforce insignia logo on the wings might have about a couple of cell phone cameras out at that given moment. That little $200-dollar device that sits right next to you now has power…great power.
But with great power, comes great responsibility. Yes, even the great cell phone, along with many things that can be linked into itself and beyond has brought mankind to great standings within the ages. In essence, good things have come and will continue to come to mankind via computer networking, but we must also remember that along with good things come bad things. Stick with us as we go over the good and bad things related to computer networking.
ADVANTAGES
Our first stop, the good ol’ advantages list! Yes, a list of things we consider advantageous for computer networking. These are things we easily share with people around the world at any given moment. Let’s see what business and organizations are happily tooting their horn about.
Enhanced communication and information availability. According to greengarageblog.org, there is a vast cornucopia of things that can be cited for our list of advantages. One big and main thing that compu...
