An Essay On My Experience Giving

English 101

I was in downtown Broward surrounded by three hundred or more rugged, homeless, and starving men and women waiting to be feed and clothe. I tried to find a way to nicely ask them to form a single file line without getting them riled up. The only words that came out of my mouth was "Please be patient everyone will get to eat." The elders at my church had already set up all the tables filled with plates of food, just before we were getting ready to pray three ladies started fighting. My brothers Rodneil and Kervens pulled them apart and told them to not to be violent to each other but to rely on one another.

Going out to hang out with and feed the homeless can be very onerous when they're afraid that you might not have enough food to feed everyone. Arguments, fights, and occasionally skipping in the line are very common whenever Begin to Serve Ministry (BTSM) and Striving for Yahweh Ministry (SFYM) get together and set up food to go feed and pray with the homeless.

We do this to let them know that we care and more specifically that God cares, and he's thinking about them. I never thought I would enjoy spending a day just chilling with the homeless and talking them about God. Although alot them gave up on God already, I was surprised that so many of them wanted to know about him.

I always dreamt of one day being able to take care of the homeless or at least doing something good for them. We started SFYM to be more involved in the community and spread the word of God, and when the Idea came up to go feed the homeless I was all for it even though I was a little scared because I didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be one of the best days of my life, It was a new experience for me but we woke up that saturday, set up a bunch of food and went to downtown broward. We set up five hundred plates and feed at least 400 people, it was a great feeling knowing that we put a smile on a lot of people's faces that day. To me there was nowhere else I wanted to be that day because I realized most homeless are really educated they just had some tough breaks.

Subsequent to making the everyone of those individuals grin, eat some nourishment, and swallow the Water warmed my heart. Their grins rubbed off their appearances and onto mine.

Realizing that my time was utilized to fill somebody's heart with joy more cheerful enlivened me to encourage the hungry the next weekend. I started anticipating the Saturdays when we go out and chill with them. A large portion of the general homeless population we nourished are already downtown by the bus stop waiting for our group to serve them lunch once more. Before long little welcomes transformed into full book of scriptures studies and I...
