An Overview of Genesis
The book of Genesis is the first book of the Bible and opens with one of the most famous sentence that is, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” We find the story of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and the ark, Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob with his 12 sons which become the descendent of Israel. The overview of the big story is that god and humanity relationship, and god and Israel. The first story is that god created all things and Adams and Eve in the Garden of Eden but they rebel against god and giving the course of sin and bring death to the world. Then, the violation of Cain and Abel story. We see the violation of the world through the story of Noah whose family only believe and worship to god. Noah build the ark and overcome the floodwater and God promises to never again destroy with water. Then we see the Tower of Babel but later god confused their language and setting up different nation. Another big story came with god and Israel story. Hundreds of years later, God calls Noah’s descendant, Abram, to leave his family and journey to the land of Canaan. God promises to bless Abram with many descendants even though he is old and childless but he believe into god. Later, Abraham has a son, Isaac and stay in the land of Canaan. Isaac has twin sons: Jacob and Esau and Jacob trick his dad with the help of her mother and steal Esa...
