Should the dangerous pirate Antonio be pardoned?
Antonio Dryden, a highly dangerous pirate, related to an assault on the count's nephew, was pardoned for his actions, but many people believe that he deserved worse. On the 8th of September, 1624, Antonio was released from custody and could walk free. He was seen around 5:45 by a bystander, Hugh Castell, walking happily away from the count's mansion. He told the news reporter it was weird seeing him because I'm sure he is wanted from around here, and to see him walk away happily kind of scared me.
Antonio committed the crime on the 3rd of April, 1620, when Orsino's men were heading to a trading post near Bradford. On the way there, Antonio and his group attacked the two cargo ships, the Phoenix and the Tiger. The pirates stole all the cargo, and amidst the chaos, Orisno's nephew, Titus, had his left leg severed from the knee down. Although many of the stolen goods were returned to keep the trade agreement between the two courts (court Hyenson and court Orsino), Antonio decided not to repay the stolen goods and has been wanted ever since. He even admitted himself after the incidents stating Most of our city did. (referring to the theft) Only I stood out....
