Arranged Marriage vs Love Marriage
Marriages when the person chooses who they are going to marry based off of love is the American way to marry, there are still countries out there that still do arranged marriages. In the articles “To Love and Marry or Marry and Love”, “Arranged Marriage vs Love Marriage” and in Romeo and Juliet the argument of whether arranged marriages or marriages based off of love are more effective is addressed. Based on the evidence, arranged marriages are more effective than love marriages because the young adults don’t have to dedicate their time searching for a life partner and they bring families together.
Young adults in arranged marriages don’t have to dedicate their time searching for a life partner. In Romeo and Juliet Romeo says “Show me a mistress that is passing fair, what doth her beauty serves but as a note where I may read who passed that passing for” (Source 1). This quote shows us that Romeo is struggling to find him a girl that meets his conditions for a bride. This quote is important because it helps support the fact that in an arranged marriage the person wouldn’t have to spend a lot of time looking for the perfect partner. “They are able to concentrate on their education and career knowing that when the time is right, their parents will provide them with a suitable bride or groom” (Source 2). This quote shows that Arranged marriages would be effective with young adults that need to focus on their life. This quote is important because it supports arranged marriages being more effective.
