My experience in Panama, is an experience most people don't get to have, and i'm very grateful I
not only had the opportunity to explore a new place, and culture, which I love to do, but I was
able to help people at the same time. In Panama it was very exciting meeting new people, and to
be able to get a glimpse of a place I had never seen before. Throughout my trip I was able to do
an array of different things to help others. I had the opportunity to work in medical with Dr.
Wong who provides optometry .My job in optometry was to test the people's vision, which
allowed me to interact with the people, and practice my Spanish skills. Optometry was one of my
favorite fields to work in because I was able to not only interact with the people, but be able to
witness how grateful the people were, and to see numerous people see for the first time in many
years, or even for the first time ever. I also worked with several other doctor who provided
pediatrics, general medicine, and so much more. I also was able to attempt something I would
usually never do, which was construction. Construction was a lot of work, and the weather was
very hot, but at the end it was all worth it. The last day I had the awesome opportunity to go to a
school to do VBS, which was probably my favorite part of my trip. While we sang songs,
performed a play, did crafts, and talked to the kids, I was able to see how different it is compared
to our school systems, and see how privileged we are here in the United states. On saturday we
had church on the beach which was an awesome experience, we were able to take a boat ride to
an island where along the way we were able to see some of God’s creatures such as Dolphins,
Monkey’s, and sea turtles. We had worship on the beach which was amazing to experience
because we worshiped God, and was able to experience the beautiful ocean and nature he created
for us. Overall my experience in Panama was an amazing experience, and it is something I will
remember for the rest of my life. I would like to thank all of you for helping me make it happen.
