INTRODUCTION
The success to creating a positive and dynamic environment begins firstly with understanding groups and managing teams. Sir Richard Branson: managing groups and team objectives explore the characteristics of group teams and behaviours, functions and roles of managers and approaches to management.
Discussed within this case study involves the argument of:
· Teams work successfully with the common commitment and objective in enhancing performance goals.
· Stages of development and task roles are taken as approaches to management which considers the effect of a collaboratively and co-ordinately working group.
· Managers and team members face the challenges of differentiating group characteristics and the need to enhance group performance.
· Managers are a key contributor to fulfil a role in providing social interactions and support group to team members.

The formation of a ‘team’ is created by working cohesively in obtaining a company’s objective. The main success within Virgin group companies is the ability to work together; towards the common commitment and business goals. Therefore, a benefit of creating a relationship within team members and managers also gaining a positive outlook within consumers. Table 12.2 of the types of team existing within Virgin group of companies are depicted as functions, understandings and approaches to the management within Virgin. Cross functional team is referred to individuals with different expertise who have specific roles, working towards business goals. Virgin group captures this technique allowing different roles to communicate and develop a sense of relationship between team members and or managers.
