“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
Challenge:
Learn to put all our trust in God rather than in material possessions.
Dear God,
Please help me to love more than anything, and trust you before all things.
Amen.
“Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Challenge:
Lean not to expect perfect happiness on earth. Grow in hope and confidence that God can and will provide us with perfect happiness in his kingdom.
Dear God,
Please help me to trust in you. And to accept everything the way they are made.
Amen.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land”
Challenge:
Learn that happiness does not come from self-promotion and gaining control over others. It comes from treating one another with gentleness and patience.
Dear God,
Please help me to treat others with respect, and how I would want to be treated. Help me to love others as you have loved me.
Amen.
“Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied”
Challenge:
Learn that being upset with the injustice and evil we see around us is a result of God’s grace and an invitation to strive to promote a just society.
Dear God,
Please help me hunger for righteousness, not unrighteousness. For unrighteousness fills me with sin.
