Adolf Hitler was born on 20th April 1889. He was born in "Braunau am Inn",Austria. Hitler tried to become an artist after high school, but was rejected byThe Fine Arts in Vienna twice. Hitler was angry because of this and turned to themilitary.In World War I he volunteered for service in the Bavarian army. He proved to bea brave soldier. Hitler was injured by an English gas attack. He lost his sight for a whileand spent his time in the hospital.Hitler became German chancellor on 30th January 1933. Hitler quicklyestablished himself as a dictator. He sent troops into the demilitarized Rhineland. By1938 Hitler occupied Austria and the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia.Britain and France feared Germany so they made the Munich Pact so that Hitler wouldnot take over any additional Czech territory. However in March 1939 Hitler occupiedthe remainder of Czechoslovakia. In 1939 Germany signed a non-aggression pact withthe Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). In the pact, the two countriesdivided up Poland. Germany later defeated Poland. One year after this Germanycontrolled most of Europe. Hitler gave the order to attack the Soviet union around1941.He made many enemies.During the war Hitler put Jews in concentration camps where around 6 millionJews were killed. Hitler committed suicide with his wife because Soviet troopssurrounded his bunker, so instead of being held prisoner he killed himself.
