This congress has since evolved into part of the strongest national government in the world, and we have Britain to thank for it.Our nation is currently home to the most religiously diverse population in the world, and it all started while we were under salutary neglect. Between the Puritans, Protestants, Catholics, and Quakers who founded our country, many new religions were formed and founded. This was possible due to the fact that Britain did not impose forced religion upon the colonies so many of the immigrants chose to come to the colonies to escape religious suppression. They came in hopes of being able to practice their own beliefs without fear of being oppressed or incriminated. Many new denominations resulted from different groups of people branching out or extending certain religions, and the Baptists and Methodists were two of the largest. All in all, religious freedom is one of the most significant founding blocks of our nation and it separates us from the rest of the world.Our nation would still be under the shadow of Britain if they had not been so lenient toward the colonies. Our influences are best shown through our legislature, commerce, and religious diversity. Without Britain's policy of salutary neglect, we would still share the same ideals and views as Britain and would never have become the superpower that we are today
