Writing this argumentative essay was a struggle for me. This is the first class where I had to debate against another writer and be very deep, insightful.I felt as if I was up against scholars. This course made me question some of the things I have been taught as a Christian. I have also learned a lot of new terms such as Catechism for example. I don't ever recall learning of the term catechism before this class. I thought the first week felt this class was a class I wouldn't learn much about. This class was a required class as an elective and I did very well in the previous religion classes that I took however, your class was a class that was the most challenging. As time progressed it was like a roller coaster ride. I had my ups and my downs. In this essay I will discuss why and how I chose to write from the Romans chapter.
Why Romans Chapter
I chose the Romans chapter, which was written by Paul. He gives us a glimpse at how God sees us. In Paul's letter we see how God loves us. This lesson I learned, that all who claim that they serve the lord will also be judged. God's judgment is against the wicked. I knew that throughout my readings previously to this class. What was different about this class is thatwe read from the Sacra Pagina the sacred page. This book broke down down and interpreted Paul's letter to Rome. The book of Romans touches upon some of the main issues oftoday, which has given us a path for theology of today's society, such as sex, death and money. We as humans have dealt with these circumstances for several years. In my research the sacra Pagina is like a modern version of the New Testament. The Catholic tradition was also explained in a simple yet sound perspective. I have never worshipped with Catholics before, however after researching the SacraPagina I feel as though I understand the Catholic tradition a little better.
Research
I used several books to research the topics of discussion, Saint Leo Library, Limbaugh Library along with Sacra Pagina, The call of Nations, which explained the salvific will of God. It taught us from St.Augustine Prosper perspective. They touched bases on the grace that God gives us so that we can be saved under his salvific will. Research on some of the topics was hard to find. My research was conducted with periodicals like Awake which is the Watchtower. Believeit or not those readings were very informative and helpful. I also utilized TheHoly Bible published by TheAmerican Bible Society. It was designed for those who serve our country. Lastly, "The Key to Spiritual Growth" and "Walking in Virtue" by John W. Crossin. He's a regular columnist for Faith Alive series of the Catholic News Service.
Writing and EditingWriting and Editing comes with great detail and a sense of an approval seeking from others who may read the paper. You want to make a good impression and write in a way that shows that you understood what you read. I made several drafts and revised. I wanted to set aside several days to revise and edit but that did not always work out in my favor. I refined my arguments, rewording sentences and added deleted paragraphs that flowed better. Developingideas in more detail, while researching more evidence to support your claims, was a challenging. Like I said before I've never written an argumentative essay.ConclusionWhat I have learned, what people say and believe are humans will established the Kingdom of God on earth either by converting others to their faith or by working for brotherhood, being the elect (chosen) or world peace. What we were taught reading the bible in this class is that God's kingdom is a condition of the heart. It is within you. It is a natural feeling to know in your heart that humankind will one day achieve peace and unity. "The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin."
