WGU - Task 1
A. Student behavior:
Sarah is struggling, sitting still, and often wandering around the classroom causing a negative effect in her own learning because she is not attentive to the instruction of the class. Sarahs behavior also affects the teaching environment causing the teacher to constantly stop the subject being taught to remind Sarah to get back to her assigned seat. Sarah also distracts her classmates by making them lose focus and not producing work as they seem to think that they can do the same.
B. Trigger or antecedent:
Sarah wanders around the class because she has a hard time understanding the subject matter, especially when math is the subject being taught. I notice that Sarah loses interest and gets frustrated when she doesnt understand what to do. For Sarah to get focused, I would have to figure a way to incorporate interactive hands-on activities and maybe films and photography. Sarah enjoys and takes pride in being part of the photography and movie making club.
C. Instructional intervention:
As the teacher I would have to identify if Sarah finds the material too difficult or not. During Sarahs time in the photography and movie-making club, she stays focused and does not wander around the class. Perhaps including photos and short videos in the lesson plans would help Sarah stay focused and produce more work. When students are interested in what they are learning theyre more likely to retain more information and think more critically to deepen their understanding of what they have learned.
D. Incorporate technology- Teaching
There are so many technologies available for teachers to use in the classroom. Some of the technologies are tablets, apps, and smartboards. The students can log into websites/apps with interactive games that help them to practice different subjects for all learning levels. This would highly increase the learning of the students, especially those that need constant feedback. For example, Bridgette could go to a website/app and play the games for the lessons she is being taught so that she can have extra practice and feel more confident in her work.
E. Incorporate technology- Learning
There always will be students that get easily distracted and off track during the instruction. To keep students focused and on tra...
