Besides having clearly expressed goals the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist have a clearly expressed vision statement:Obstetrics and gynecology is a discipline dedicated to the broad, integrated medical andsurgical care of women's health throughout their lifespan. The combined discipline ofobstetrics and gynecology requires extensive study and understanding of reproductivephysiologic, social, cultural, environmental, and genetic factors that influence diseasein women. "The welfare of the patient is central to all considerations in the patient-physician relationship.
