College of Arts and Sciences - What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?
When I was around the age of eight, my family and I experienced a devastating house fire that left us homeless, without possessions, and lost. Left Wwith little to nothing, my family and I moved to a decrepit, pre-Civil War farmhouse. Buried Nestled behind towering oak trees and off of a country back roads, we had found a hidden treasure – Arnold Farm.
The house was builtBuilt in the early 1800’s, so itthe house had its a wide collection of problems. The paint throughout the entire house, inside and out, was fading and chipping;, the water pressure was nonexistent and the water always ran coldlow;, and the heat was very scarce, and the sole source of heat was from a wood burning stove in the living room - but our family adapted. We became closer. In the mornings, all seven of us would gather together in the living room, not because it had the a T.V or the an Xbox, but because it was the only warm spacehad a wood-burning stove. My brother and I shared a bunk bed in the upstairs hallway and my sister lived in the dining room.
