In the past few months, there has been controversy over the recent protests based around the Confederate monuments. This topic has caused a lot of discussion because these monuments have many different meanings to different people. Recently, President Trump made some statements on this big argument, and he isn't happy about taking down the Monuments.
President Trump made a statement, "You're changing history. You're changing culture". I strongly disagree with his opinion. The monuments that are being taken down are monuments of Confederate leaders that supported slavery and were only heroes in the eyes of Confederates. It may be good to keep them up to remember the mistakes that we made in the past, but to me, it makes no sense that taking the statues down will change history and our culture. When he said we are changing history and culture, it's very clear that he was talking about the history and culture of the white people that lived in the South. America doesn't really have a culture because of how extremely diverse our country is.
