Conducting a meeting well is science and art. Alpha Xi Mu gave me the experience I needed to develop a feel for how to pace meetings as a leader. It also engraved in me the significance of those meetings and the potential of serving the functions.Communication is key when it comes to PTK club meetings. They are a learning process, which took me into a journey of fairness, consideration, and sensitivity. They also provided me with the time to share my visions and goals, and time for problem solving in which members worked together to brainstorm in order to find a solution to a problem, in a process of crisis management and damage control. Last but not least, status reinforcement and emotional support were core functions of these meetings. Meeting with the club president and advisors is a ritual that reinforces the perception that each and every member is on the same track.Such social events as PTK masquerade balls and karaoke nights that are social events gave me the skill of achieving balance between career, family, and social life, by blurring the boundaries between them. The result was a wonderful balance in my life because I was doing both things all the time. I recognized the wholesome strategy that my personal life reinforces my professional life, and my professional life reinforces my personal life. The genetic engineering debates and the Tibetan Buddhist Monks Sands Mandala Ceremony opened the doors of opportunity to open-mindedness. Through education, Alpha Xi Mu helped me stay on top of things in the community abroad. This diverse array of events instituted leadership skills within myself.Alpha Xi Mu not only helped me attained the level of leadership I sought, but also gave me the initiative to make a difference. After all, "Capability precedes competence, which precedes proficiency, and finally comes mastery", said Subhash Kamat. Indeed, this chapter provided a splendid learning process, which illuminated the best in each and every steadfast seeker.
