Characterization, Irony, Imagery/Visualize in O. Henry, “The Gift of the Magi”
The story I am doing is “The Gift of the Magi”. The Gift of the Magi is written by O. Henry. This story is about a married couple who buys each other gifts. The literary Analysis are Characterization, Conflict, and Imagery/Visualize. I like this story because it reminds me of my grandparents. How they are always surprising each other with gifts. Have you ever made a sacrifice in order to help others or make someone happy?
There is a lot of Characterization in this sorry. For one the author, I the beginning of the story, described Della to be poor. He said she only had one dollar and eighty seven cents. Also the author explained the man, Jim, as being the head of the house. Both characters changed a lot during the story. Della changed from being poor to high-class. Then back to poor from buying Jim a valuable gift.
The whole story is about irony. For example she cut all her hair off to get him a chain for his watch. Another example is that Jim bought hair combs without know...
