Video games bad influence on Kids
The famous children’s advocate Felix Kjellberg once said, “My parents said that sitting at home playing video games all day won’t bring you anywhere in life.”. Nowadays playing video games is a big issue on a child aged between 6 and 17. Almost every parent fears about their children’s time and their future. Italian, Canadian, American and other countries researches about this topic because video games have become a major industry in the U.S. Video games become uncontrollable as this industry growing faster than expected, 10.7% to $116 billion in 2017. However, video games are a bad influence on young kids aged between 6 and 17. First, video games are the biggest reason why young kids become obese at childhood. Secondly, video games encourage violent and aggressive behaviour and young kids have become socially isolated. Lastly, video games cause loss of concentration. Video games are killing creativity and imaginative thoughts with loss of concentration because young kids spend their time on playing video games rather than spend this time on more beneficial activities.
First, video games encourage obesity in young kids particularly very young children aged between 6 and 17. Obesity is a big issue for children. A predicted 12.5 million young kids aged between 6 and 17 are obese, based on the information of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Besides that, an estimated 82 percent of kids spend their time of an average of 15-20 hours per week playing video games on the computer. In Switzerland, the study worked with 872 schoolchildren who associated with obesity. The study points out that each hour the children played video games multiplied the likelihood that the children were obese. In short, kids who playing video games on the computer, PlayStation etc. that they more likely to be hungry. So, more likely to become obese, scientist claim. “Video games are the single biggest cause of childhood obesity,” said The World Health Organization.
Secondly, video games have become more realistic to real life as the computer technology and its technic become more easy and technologic, Therefore, violent video games become more realistic and because of young kids aged between 6 and 12 couldn’t distinguish between real life and virtual environment. So, young kids think normal that destroying a building, killing people while they walk around in the virtual violent game, kicking or punching animal and harm the environment. A few of study shows that video games make kids violent, aggressive such as Italian study found that kids who played violent games had less restraint (Jacobs, Feb 10, 2014 para. 1), another study shows that kids had higher heart rate, reported more dizziness and nausea and exhibited more aggressive thoughts if they play violent virtual reality game.
